Over the last few weeks, we’ve been releasing snippets of interesting findings from the end-of-year survey we conducted back in December about the role of data and software analytics in 2015. From companies’ maturity levels in using data to the impact of data-driven feedback loops on software development, the survey results offer an eye-opening examination of how companies are using and thinking about data. Today, we’re excited to share the final output of the survey in our new Data Culture in Software Development report.

If you want to see how your company stacks up when it comes to harnessing the power of data, it’s a must-read. And some of the results may surprise you. For instance:

  • One-third of respondents reported not having the ability to measure and interpret what works and what doesn’t.
  • Nearly 43% of Web-first companies rated themselves ahead of the competition, compared to just 16.9% of historically offline companies.
  • While 13% of respondents didn’t release any new code to production in 2014, 41% expect to release weekly or faster (daily or hourly) in 2015.

For anyone who has been tooting the data horn and not getting the response you’d like, feel free to use the stats in this survey report to revisit the topic with your colleagues and management. And if they’d like to learn more about using data to make better software decisions, send them here.
